Book Review: The Reckoning by John Grisham (number 10!!)
I wasn’t even in the market for a new read, but I found myself loitering in a train station with a long journey ahead of me. I popped into a WHSmith, initially for some trashy mags (I was hungover after a hen do) and came across the JG I hadn’t read yet.
The story of a man shooting another in cold blood, no one knows why. It starts with the shooting, it continues with the aftermath before jumping back in the past, and then coming back to the present.
I read this book quickly, as I do with all JG’s, but I really only read it because I was desperate to uncover the motive. So I read on and on and on, still thinking that there would be this huge plot reveal. I put up with the long stint in the past, even though it wasn’t overly interesting (or as I learnt, relevant). Let me save you some time, the motive ain’t worth it. The end.
John, I expected better.
