Happy to share my interest in these history books that are short and concise. Not so happy/little ashamed to share the books that I have recently read from these hourly series. I previously posted this, about some different historical figures from the same series.

As you can see from the list below, evil historical figures are my preference. In my defense, each of these was a spin off from something else I was reading or watching that made me want to know more about the individual in question. For example, I was reading about the end of the Imperial family of Russia in which Grigori featured heavily. So I had to know more!

There really isn’t much or a review here about the books, but I do highly recommend these series’. There are a lot of books, with a wide range of topics/figures/events. Something for everyone.

The creator (more creditor) of Fascism. I didn’t know much about him but he is a key piece of European history. So I thought I would start easy with this a short book. To be honest, apart from his ideologies, I didn’t think he appeared as awful as history dictates. That being said, I did read it immediately after the one below about Stalin.

I was watching some program about the Gulags of Russia, built during the reign of the Soviet Union, I had also watching the Queens Gambit which also refers to Russia during this time. Naturally, I had to know more. I think now I have read this book about Stalin, I am going to try and fall down the Russia rabbit hole.

Ted Bundy: A Life From Beginning to End – Hourly History

This was a very left field choice for me. I am not usually into outright murderers (I say outright as I have clearly read a lot around Hitler), but I prefer to read about historical figures that we need to learn from. Bu I was watching the Netflix documentary “Don’t F*ck with Cats”, and the crazy person in that (I won’t say anymore for fear of ruining it for someone) was a fan of Ted Bundy. As a British person, I had o idea about this American serial killer….so I opted for learning about him through one of these shorter reads. I don’t think I can use words to describe him, my face however whilst reading this book would tell you everything.

I actually don’t think I recommend this book. Stay away, you don’t need to know anymore than he was a serial killer.

Ra Ra Rasputin Russia Greatest Love Machine….did anyone else used to sing this as kids? Perhaps it was just the school I went to. I never actually got taught about him. When I was reading about the last Tsar of Russia, his wife’s obsession with Rasputin featured heavily (not amorously, but more from a healing perspective for their son). Down the rabbit hole I went and read about this guy. An odd fellow to say the least, not a monk though, he is often referred to as “The crazy monk”.
